Every Love Song …
Every love song feels like a cinder block fist to my ribs
Loss of air, stare - blankly
Into a sea of hats, hair, wandering eyes
Fully consumed passerby’s
I’m just holding on
To the railing of this capricious life
Catching my breath in between let downs
Gathering smiles like field flowers
When I know I have to be the one
To lift me back up
Point myself into some palpable direction
Hoping I’ll figure something out
Along the way
Something to soothe my soul
From the aching of you
Clinging to my being
Like a shadow on the forest floor
I’d try to run
But I signed a deal with futility
The day my eyes found yours
