The Moon and You

How the moon

Lumen and magic

Politely taps

Seemingly dances

Her way through

A crowd of clouds

Darkest blue reflections

Of a Jupiter lake retreat

Cosmic creations

And you

Laughing along on your back

Cold clinging to you

Like a grade school backpack

Following the light

Tapping, cascading

Sometimes crashing through

Into a pool of eternal blue

You’re beautiful in ways

Only the earth could reveal

And she won’t

And you won’t

Because you are real

The moon glides

Through high sky tides

As your eyes follow

The magnetic shine

I

Without coat,

Flat backed on the riverbank

No longer aware of the cold

Give up the moon

For your kindred smile
